Grid pattern color coated embossed aluminum sheet combines a regular square, diamond, cross-grid or custom geometric texture with a decorative colored surface. It is designed for architectural panels, ceilings, elevator interiors, cabinets, furniture, appliance panels, equipment enclosures and other fabricated components requiring a structured three-dimensional appearance.
The grid texture is formed by passing aluminum sheet through precision patterned embossing rollers. Grid size, line width, intersection geometry, embossing depth and orientation can influence both appearance and downstream forming performance and should therefore be confirmed before commercial production.
Available base materials include 1050, 1060, 1100, 3003, 3105 and 5052 aluminum. The current product range covers 0.2-4.0mm thickness, 600-2000mm width and 500-6000mm cut length.
This decorative grid embossed sheet should not automatically be treated as aluminum tread or checker plate. Where flooring, stairs, ramps or industrial platforms require defined slip resistance, specify the required raised profile, base thickness, loading condition and applicable slip-resistance test separately.

A square grid uses intersecting lines arranged at approximately 90 degrees to create repeated square cells. Cell size, line width and embossing depth can be adjusted according to tooling and appearance requirements.
A diamond grid uses intersecting diagonal lines to create a repeating rhombic surface. The visual effect changes with grid angle, pitch and embossing depth.
Cross-grid designs can combine longitudinal and transverse lines to create a structured geometric appearance suitable for cabinets, wall panels and equipment surfaces.
Hexagonal decorative patterns can be produced where suitable tooling is available. A surface embossing of this type should not be confused with structural aluminum honeycomb core, which is a different product construction.
Other repeated geometric patterns can be evaluated from a technical drawing or physical sample. Tooling feasibility depends on pattern dimensions, base thickness, alloy, order volume and required surface quality.
Decorative grid embossed sheet and aluminum checker plate can both contain raised geometry, but they should not be selected as equivalent materials.
| Selection Factor | Grid Embossed Decorative Sheet | Tread / Checker Plate |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Purpose | Decorative geometry, visual texture and fabricated panel applications | Traction for walking, vehicle and industrial floor surfaces |
| Typical Pattern | Fine square, diamond, cross or custom grid | Prominent one-bar, two-bar, five-bar, diamond or other raised traction pattern |
| Typical Applications | Walls, ceilings, elevators, cabinets, furniture and decorative covers | Stairs, ramps, walkways, vehicle floors and industrial platforms |
| Slip Resistance | No specific coefficient or rating should be assumed without testing | Traction is a primary design objective, with testing required where a contractual value applies |
| Structural Use | Depends on alloy, gauge, panel geometry and support system | Selected according to plate thickness, load, span and service conditions |
The base aluminum is passed between patterned rollers under controlled pressure. The tooling transfers the required square, diamond or other repeated grid profile into the sheet surface.
Grid pitch defines the repeating distance between equivalent pattern positions. Where adjacent panels must align visually, pitch should be defined on the technical drawing.
Line or rib width influences the proportion of the grid and should be controlled separately from cell size where appearance is important.
The current product description references approximately 0.05-0.3mm texture depth. Final depth should be confirmed according to alloy, temper, base thickness, tooling and finished-component requirements.
Diamond and directional grid patterns can look different when sheets are rotated. Required orientation should therefore be identified relative to sheet length and installation direction.
1xxx-series aluminum offers high aluminum purity and good formability. These alloys are suitable for many decorative and lightly formed products where high mechanical strength is not the primary requirement.
AA3003 is an aluminum-manganese alloy providing greater strength than commercially pure 1xxx-series aluminum while retaining useful forming performance. It is a practical choice for many decorative, appliance and architectural panels.
AA3105 can be selected where a formable 3xxx-series alloy is required for coated and embossed building, appliance or decorative components.
AA5052 provides higher strength than the listed 1xxx and 3xxx decorative alloys and useful corrosion resistance. Temper and embossing geometry should be matched to the required forming process.
Specify the required coating system according to indoor or exterior use, UV exposure, cleaning conditions, forming requirements and expected appearance retention. If a particular PE, PVDF or other coating chemistry is required, include it in the inquiry for availability confirmation.
Color should be confirmed using an available color reference or approved physical sample. Appearance-sensitive projects should approve an actual coated embossed sample rather than relying only on a screen image.
Gloss is independent of grid geometry. A square or diamond embossed pattern can be combined with different gloss levels depending on the selected coating system.
The production sequence can influence coating appearance and deformation around raised and recessed grid features. Where coating integrity is critical, confirm the intended manufacturing route before production.
| Feature | Performance Consideration | Application Value |
|---|---|---|
| Three-Dimensional Grid Texture | Repeated raised and recessed geometry creates a structured decorative surface. | Suitable for wall panels, ceilings, elevators, furniture and equipment panels. |
| Pattern Customization | Cell size, line width, shape, angle and depth can be evaluated according to tooling feasibility. | Allows the surface pattern to match project or product design requirements. |
| Visual Concealment | Texture can make minor handling marks and small surface irregularities less visually prominent than on a smooth reflective sheet. | Useful for frequently handled visible components. |
| Handling-Mark Visibility | Grid texture may reduce the visual prominence of some fingerprints, but it should not be treated as a dedicated anti-fingerprint finish unless specifically tested. | Useful for cabinets, elevators and decorative equipment panels. |
| Formability | Depends on alloy, temper, base thickness, grid depth, bend position and coating flexibility. | Can be fabricated into suitable panels and covers after forming validation. |
| Mechanical Properties | No fixed increase in tensile strength or reduction in elongation should be assumed solely from embossing. | Use tested mechanical values where structural performance is contractual. |
| Slip Resistance | No fixed friction coefficient should be assigned to decorative grid embossing without an applicable test. | Use dedicated tread/checker plate where defined anti-slip performance is required. |
Grid embossed aluminum can create a repeated geometric surface for interior wall panels and selected exterior decorative applications where the coating and complete panel design meet the service requirements.
Regular grid geometry can be incorporated into ceiling layouts to create visual rhythm and dimensional surface texture.
Square, diamond or custom grid patterns can be used for architectural feature panels where consistent pattern alignment is required across visible surfaces.
Grid embossed colored aluminum can be evaluated for elevator decorative panels where cleaning, scratch resistance, fire requirements and complete elevator-system specifications have been confirmed.
Geometric grid patterns can provide a structured appearance for lobby walls, retail fixtures, display panels and commercial interiors.
Where panels require frequent cleaning, specify coating hardness and chemical resistance according to the actual detergent or cleaning system rather than relying on surface texture alone.
Fine square or diamond grids can provide a distinctive surface for cabinet doors and decorative storage products.
Color coated grid embossed aluminum can be used for selected furniture facings, display fixtures and decorative inserts.
Suitable alloys, tempers and coatings can be evaluated for appliance panels where the required forming, appearance and cleaning performance are specified.
Grid embossed sheet can be fabricated into suitable equipment covers and decorative enclosures according to gauge, rigidity and forming requirements.
Where grid lines must continue visually across panel joints, provide the panel layout, grid pitch and reference datum before material cutting.
Directional diamond or rectangular grids should normally be maintained in one orientation across adjacent visible panels.
Strict grid orientation or pattern alignment can reduce the ability to rotate blanks during nesting. Material yield should therefore be considered together with visual requirements.
Bend performance depends on alloy, temper, base thickness, grid depth, bend radius, bend position relative to the pattern and coating flexibility.
A bend passing through embossed intersections can deform differently from a bend located between grid lines. Appearance-critical components should be trialed using representative material.
Stamping, deep forming or tight folding can locally flatten, stretch or distort the grid pattern. Finished component drawings should be reviewed where pattern continuity is important.
Sheets can be cut to finished dimensions while maintaining the required pattern orientation. Edge-quality and dimensional tolerances should match the downstream assembly process.
Appearance-sensitive coated surfaces should be protected from abrasive handling during cutting, forming, packing and transportation. Temporary protective film can be discussed where appropriate.
Where a specific alloy and temper are contractual, identify them on the purchase specification and verify them using the applicable material documentation.
Clarify whether nominal thickness refers to the flat base aluminum before embossing. Peak-to-valley embossed profile should not be confused with base-sheet gauge.
Where cell dimensions are important, define nominal square, rectangular, diamond or hexagonal dimensions and allowable tolerances on the drawing.
Diamond-grid angle should be defined where it affects appearance or panel alignment.
Specify embossed-line width and repeating pitch separately for appearance-sensitive or custom patterns.
Where embossing depth is contractual, define the target value, tolerance and measurement method rather than relying only on a generic grid-pattern description.
Visible sheets should be inspected for consistent grid geometry, pattern depth and unacceptable flattened or distorted areas against the approved reference sample.
Color and gloss should be evaluated against the approved coated sample where visual matching forms part of the order requirements.
Where required, coating adhesion and post-forming integrity should be tested according to the agreed coating system and applicable test method.
