The aluminum foil layer provides strong protection against oxygen, water vapor and light when the foil, laminate and seals remain intact. This makes foil laminates suitable for oxygen-sensitive, moisture-sensitive and light-sensitive products.
Where shelf-life performance is critical, buyers should specify numerical OTR and WVTR requirements and validate the finished pouch with the actual packed product.
PA Nylon can be incorporated into the laminate where additional puncture resistance, flex durability and mechanical strength are required. This is particularly useful for vacuum packaging and products with irregular shapes or harder edges.
PE, CPP, PP or retort-grade CPP can be selected as the inner sealing layer according to filling conditions, sealing equipment and thermal-processing requirements.
Seal temperature, dwell time, sealing pressure and contamination at the seal area can affect finished pouch integrity, so production settings should be validated on the buyer's packaging line.
The printable outer layer supports customized gravure printing for branded packaging. Up to 10 colors, matte, glossy and metallic visual effects can be specified according to artwork and production requirements.
The multilayer laminate can be designed to provide suitable tear resistance, puncture resistance, dimensional stability and handling performance during printing, pouch making, filling, vacuum packing and transport.
PET/AL/PA/PE and related Nylon/PE laminate structures can be considered for vacuum packaging where high barrier, puncture resistance and reliable vacuum seals are required.
The required Nylon thickness, PE seal layer and total laminate thickness should be selected according to product weight, sharpness, vacuum level, package size and distribution conditions.
Retort pouches must withstand the complete sterilization cycle while maintaining laminate adhesion, foil integrity and seal strength. A structure intended only for normal vacuum packaging should not automatically be treated as retort suitable.
For high-temperature processing, structures such as PET/AL/PA/RCPP or another validated retort-grade construction can be developed according to the required sterilization process.
Provide the target sterilization temperature, holding time, pressure or overpressure profile, filling temperature, food type, oil or acid content, pouch dimensions, fill weight and expected shelf life before the retort structure is finalized.
Discuss Your Vacuum or Retort Process
PET/AL/PE combines a printable PET outer layer, aluminum foil barrier and PE sealing layer. It is suitable for many dry-food, powder, coffee, ingredient and high-barrier flexible packaging applications where standard heat-sealing performance is required.
PET/AL/CPP provides a smooth printed outer layer, aluminum barrier and CPP sealing layer. The exact CPP grade and adhesive system should be selected according to sealing temperature and required thermal-processing conditions.
The added PA Nylon layer improves puncture resistance and mechanical durability. This structure is suitable for vacuum packaging, frozen foods, meat products, pet food and other applications requiring additional mechanical protection.
EVOH can be incorporated where additional oxygen-barrier functionality is required. The complete structure should be selected according to required OTR, humidity exposure, product characteristics and shelf-life target.
For suitable high-temperature retort applications, a PET/AL/PA/RCPP construction can provide printing performance, aluminum barrier, Nylon reinforcement and a retort-grade sealing layer. Final suitability must be validated against the actual sterilization process.
Custom structures can be developed according to barrier requirements, package size, filling method, vacuum level, sterilization process, product contents, required shelf life, sealing equipment and distribution conditions.
High-definition gravure printing is available for production orders requiring consistent graphics and repeat printing. Up to 10 colors can be specified according to artwork complexity and production requirements.
Surface appearance can be customized with matte, glossy or metallic visual effects. Buyers should provide approved artwork, color references and any special finish requirements before production.
Roll width, roll length, core dimensions, winding direction and splice requirements can be specified to match printing, laminating, pouch-making or form-fill-seal equipment.
The laminate can be designed for stand-up pouches, flat pouches, three-side seal bags, zipper pouches, side-gusset bags, quad-seal formats, sachets and other customized flexible-packaging constructions.
High-barrier aluminum laminates can be used for coffee, tea, spices, nuts, confectionery, baked products, powders and other dry products requiring protection from oxygen, moisture, light and aroma loss.
PA/Nylon-reinforced structures can be considered for vacuum-packed meat, frozen food and products requiring additional puncture resistance. Film structure and gauge should be selected according to product geometry and storage conditions.
Validated retort-grade laminates can be developed for ready meals, sauces, pet food and other thermally processed foods. The laminate must be matched to the actual sterilization schedule and product formulation.
High-barrier and puncture-resistant laminate structures are suitable for dry, wet and retort-processed pet food when the material construction is matched to the filling and sterilization process.
Powdered beverages, protein powders, nutritional supplements and similar products can use aluminum barrier laminates where moisture and oxygen protection are important.
High-barrier laminates can be evaluated for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and healthcare products where the structure, cleanliness, migration requirements and applicable regulatory documentation meet the intended market and product specification.
Printable laminates can be converted into sachets and pouches for creams, masks, shampoos, lotions and other personal-care products after compatibility with the packaged formulation has been confirmed.
Aluminum barrier laminates can be used for selected electronics, precision components and industrial products requiring protection from moisture, oxygen, light or environmental contamination during storage and transport.
State the actual sterilization temperature before the laminate is selected. Retort-grade structures commonly require specialized sealant films and adhesives that remain stable during high-temperature processing.
Temperature alone is not sufficient to define a retort process. Holding time, pressure, overpressure and cooling conditions can influence seal integrity, foil deformation and laminate adhesion.
Acidic foods, oily products, sauces, solids and products with sharp particulates can place different demands on the laminate. Product composition and fill weight should therefore be included in the packaging specification.
For a new product or new laminate construction, representative production material should be tested through the buyer's actual filling, sealing and retort process before commercial approval.
Quality inspection can be defined according to the agreed packaging specification and may include printing appearance, color consistency, lamination adhesion, heat-seal strength, peel strength, thickness, roll dimensions and surface condition.
Where oxygen transmission is a contractual requirement, specify the target OTR together with test temperature, relative humidity and test method.
Where moisture transmission is controlled, specify the required WVTR value and test conditions. Results from different temperatures or humidity levels should not be treated as directly interchangeable.
Seal and laminate bond requirements should be established according to pouch format, fill weight and thermal process. Retort products should also be evaluated after sterilization where applicable.
The aluminum composite film can be supplied in roll form with customized export packaging. Coil packing, eye-to-sky packing, eye-to-wall packing, wooden cases, pallets and moisture-resistant wrapping can be selected according to roll size and transportation requirements.
Typical production lead time is 10-20 days depending on laminate structure, printing, order quantity and required converting process. Final delivery schedule should be confirmed with the order.
