Aluminum/PE/Carton/PE sheet, also known as Aluminum-Polyethylene-Carton-Polyethylene laminated sheet, is a high-performance four-layer composite material engineered for superior barrier protection and structural integrity. This innovative laminated structure combines the unique properties of each individual layer to create a versatile packaging solution that excels in both functionality and sustainability.
The four-layer configuration follows a precise sandwich design:
1. Outer Aluminum Layer: Provides exceptional barrier against oxygen, moisture, light, and contaminants
2. First PE (Polyethylene) Layer: Acts as an adhesive bonding layer and offers additional moisture resistance
3. Carton (Paperboard) Core Layer: Delivers structural rigidity, printability, and eco-friendly characteristics
4. Inner PE Layer: Ensures safe food contact, heat sealability, and chemical resistance
This multi-layer construction is produced using advanced extrusion lamination or dry lamination techniques, ensuring consistent bonding and optimal performance across the entire sheet surface.
Parameter | Typical Range | Description |

Tensile Strength | 15-30MPa | Longitudinal direction |
Elongation at Break | 200-400% | Transverse direction |
Oxygen Transmission Rate (OTR) | <0.5cm³/m²·day·atm | At 23°C, 50% RH |
Water Vapor Transmission Rate (WVTR) | <1.0g/m²·day | At 38°C, 90% RH |
Heat Seal Temperature | 120-180°C | Depends on PE grade |
Printability | Excellent | Compatible with flexographic, gravure, and digital printing |
Food Contact Compliance | FDA 21 CFR §177.1520, EU 10/2011 | Safe for direct food contact applications |
Note: Custom specifications available upon request to meet specific application requirements.
1. Material PreparationSelect food-grade aluminum foil, coated carton board, and low-melt-index PE resin; perform surface treatment (corona treatment) to improve bonding fastness between layers.
2. Extrusion Lamination / Dry Lamination
1. Extrusion lamination: Molten PE resin is extruded as a thin film to bond aluminum foil and carton board.
2. Dry lamination: Use adhesive to compound aluminum foil with PE film, then laminate with carton board and inner PE layer.
3. Cooling & SettingThe composite web passes through a cooling roller system to stabilize layer bonding and eliminate internal stress.
4. Slitting & WindingCut the large-width sheet into target sizes according to customer requirements, then wind into rolls or cut into flat sheets.
5. Pre-delivery InspectionConduct appearance, thickness, barrier property and bonding strength tests before packaging and delivery.
Aluminum/PE/Carton/PE sheet is a versatile material with wide-ranging applications across multiple industries, primarily in packaging solutions requiring both barrier protection and structural integrity:
• Liquid Food Packaging: Aseptic cartons for milk, juice, plant-based beverages, and soup
• Dry Food Packaging: Premium packaging for coffee, tea, powdered milk, and nutritional supplements
• Convenience Food: Ready-to-eat meal trays, instant noodle bowls, and frozen food containers
• Pet Food: High-barrier packaging for dry and semi-moist pet food products
• Medical device packaging requiring sterile barrier protection
• Pharmaceutical sachets for tablets, capsules, and powdered medications
• Nutraceutical packaging for vitamins and dietary supplements
• Chemical packaging for solvents, adhesives, and lubricants requiring multi-barrier protection
• Agricultural chemical packaging (pesticides, fertilizers) with enhanced safety features
• Electronics packaging for moisture-sensitive components
• Cosmetic and personal care product packaging (creams, lotions, powders)
• Household product packaging for detergents, fabric softeners, and cleaning agents
Aluminum/PE/Carton/PE sheet offers a unique combination of benefits that distinguish it from traditional single-material or simpler laminated alternatives:
• Absolute Oxygen Barrier: Aluminum layer provides near-100% impermeability to oxygen, preventing oxidation and extending shelf life by 2-5 times compared to plastic-only packaging
• Excellent Moisture Resistance: Dual PE layers and aluminum foil create a robust defense against moisture ingress, critical for preserving product quality
• Light & UV Protection: Aluminum layer blocks harmful UV rays and visible light, protecting light-sensitive products from degradation
• Optimal Rigidity: Carton core delivers superior structural support for handling, stacking, and transportation without deformation
• Secure Heat Sealability: Inner PE layer enables strong, consistent heat sealing for tamper-evident and leak-proof packaging
• Versatile Printability: Carton layer provides an excellent surface for high-quality printing, supporting brand differentiation and product information communication
• Material Efficiency: Laminated structure uses minimal material while maximizing performance, reducing overall environmental footprint
• Recyclability: Compatible with modern material recovery systems for separation of aluminum, paper, and plastic components
• Cost-Effective: Lower total cost of ownership compared to glass or metal packaging, with reduced transportation costs due to lighter weight
• Food-Safe Design: Inner PE layer meets global food contact standards (FDA, EU, etc.) for direct food contact applications
• Chemical Resistance: PE layers provide protection against most common chemicals, ensuring product purity
• Tamper-Evident Features: Heat-sealable properties enable secure closure systems to protect against contamination and counterfeiting
